Conservatives tend to emphasize more of America has done right & progressives tend to emphasize more of what America has done wrong. The higher truth lies in realizing both: loving our ideals and possibilities enough to be brutally honest with ourselves about what has gone wrong.

I think there are are Republicans too afraid to drop support for the president and speak out against current policy. Romney was the only one to vote for impeachment. This is not ideology. It’s fear! What is “conservative” anymore? A useless label, perhaps?

Likewise, what are progressives doing? Advocating for giant “New Deal” style centralized government programs that fail to take into account the vast differences in local economies, climates, and cultures? That’s no way to go, either! That’s why governors are collaborating now.
