This self quarantine has showed a lot of what we actually need and what we don’t.
Conservatives tend to emphasize more of America has done right & progressives tend to emphasize more of what America has done wrong. The higher truth lies in realizing both: loving our ideals and possibilities enough to be brutally honest with ourselves about what has gone wrong.

The conservative party and its policies, economic and others, are not based in data or science. That party only emphasizes what the wealthy tell them to, not anything thats ever actually been successful.

That’s a relatively recent development, however. The Republican party was not always like this, even in my lifetime. There are high minded conservative values as well as high minded liberal ones. Both parties used to adhere to them more.

I disagree with that. I’m not a conservative, but I agree with Eisenhower who said “the American mind at its best is both liberal and conservative.” Let’s not confuse conservatism with corporatism.
