1/ We have allowed too much horror to be normalized. I know we can’t stay in a constant state of outrage, nor should we. I know it’s exhausting and easier to just throw up our hands at a certain point. To turn to humor like jokes about the disinfectant comment.

2/ But the unnecessary suffering of tens of millions of people who can’t pay the rent or buy food now is something none of us should shut up about. We must refuse to shut up. The crumbs being thrown to those not fortunate enough to already have cake to eat is outrageous.

3/ We must always bear witness to the agony of others, or when the agony is ours there will be no one to bear witness for us.

“Grief is the price of love. And rage—the righteous rage we feel right now—is the price of protecting that which is loved.” - @valariekaur We need to see EVERYONE who is suffering as someone that we love, then grieve AND get angry AND take action! 💗☮️🌍🙏

We bear witness because it is the truth of what is happening, regardless of whether we get the same consideration in return. Truth for the sake of truth is a good enough reason.

If there is no empathy left, sorrow in the world will become unbearable. If we have one regret when we die, let it not be that we didn't care.

Bear witness? Yes. Refusing to shut up? Also yes. But after that, what courses of action are we to take? Personally, I think it’s too late to significantly improve government in Washington no matter what we say or whom we elect. There are limits no one can control. 1/2

In a way no one is to blame … and everyone is to blame. So I recommend we acknowledge our anger but, once having done so, turn our attention to helping each other now. I just posted Conversation No. 6 on my my web site: https://openeyesvideo.com  2/2
