And as my @kabbalahcentre teacher, @davidghiyam, likes to ask, “Are you building or destroying?” I’m not saying we all have to agree, but how can we unify if we’re just trying to break down the other side?

This sketch hits home for me, not only because I am a
#Michigander (who also has lived in#California and still spends a lot of time there for work and have lived/worked in#Florida), but because I recognize each of these characters.https://vm.tiktok.com/79PoBV/1 reply 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread -
My late godfather, my Uncle Bob, was a
#VietnamVet in the#MichiganMilitia and a proud member of the#NRA, and if he was alive today, he would probably have been on the steps of the capitol building armed and waving a#Confederate flag. No, really.#MichiganProtest#Michigan1 reply 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread -
He was also a Michigan
#CivilWar re-enactor on the Confederate side, so he had all the gear... Does it make sense? Not to me. But does that mean I loved him any less? He holds a very special place in my heart.

AND, I disagreed with him on SO many issues. Seriously, SO many. But if we only react, rage, fight against the people we disagree with, how can we ever expect to understand another viewpoint and ideally facilitate change or at the very least compromise?

Those of you who know me personally know that I follow
@marwilliamson and attended@RenUnity when I lived in#MetroDetroit when Marianne was the spiritual leader there. I have always loved her idea of a Department of Peace rather than a Department of Defense.#Peace2 replies 1 retweet 2 likesShow this thread
Thank you! Not instead of; along with.

Replying to @marwilliamson @RenUnity
Yes, thank you for that. We definitely need defense but would love for peace to be the primary purpose in all our lives. The changes would be extraordinary! Thank you for being an inspiration!
