Why the didn't govenors of effected states approach firms to begin stepping up production? It is there job you know. Why must it be a dictate at the Federal level?

Governors cannot direct private industry to do anything. They made it clear they would pay any price. It’s on the federal level that the president could have directed the manufacture of needed equipment.

Delaying the activation of the Defense Production Act was a blatant act of negligence. Doing the right thing is not complicated... It’s comparable to running for a garden hose to put a house fire out... while meanwhile the fire truck is sitting curbside.

I have a friend who works for a health system that has been talking about this & planning for it as best as possible since Jan. It is unconscionable that our gov't didn't do the same back then, AND that it has remained so passive, unresponsive & indifferent even this month.

nah man, look at what the doctors, governors, even players in the private sector are saying...the volunteerism is great and appreciated but the Feds need to step in and literally manage the nation's ventilator inventory and supply chain.

I honestly don't know why people are so shocked. What relief did hurricane-ravaged New Orleans get? How about Puerto Rico? After giving Wall Street $2T, our overlords are abandoning us to shelter in their mansions and waiting to see how many of us die We are all Katrina now
