Our entire government has been hijacked by a corporate aristocracy hardly different than the British monarchy and aristocracy we rejected in 1776. This is so much bigger than Democrats versus Republicans: this is the people versus that entire machinery & what keeps it well oiled.

I want to believe in that too. To win by voting we have to have an educated population. But I am afraid the media has such a tight grip on our nation with propaganda that the only thing that will snap the population out of it--is immense pain. And that always leads to violence.

But Gandhi wanted to maintain the caste system and MLKs dream wasn't realized. A better example is the Singing Revolution when the USSR recognized it could no longer control a self-determined populace. The onus to avoid violence is on the tormentor, not the victim.
