FDR didn’t just pull us out of the Depression. He fundamentally altered economic/banking/political rules so it wouldn’t happen again. Several decades ago we started dismantling some of the very protections that FDR created, so crony capitalists could party more. And here we are.

Maybe banning buybacks would help with that. Or taxing them if there is too much push back on completely eliminating them.

I just don’t think that’s possible as long as we’re a capitalist country. There will always be an ownership class, and it’ll be in their interest to warp the economy in their favor over everybody else
