If you’re about to think “Oh no, I might not be able to get this or that at the grocery store,” take a moment to consider how US sanctions have effected people in Cuba, Iran & Venezuela. Millions of people for whom life has been made so hard. These are ways we can grow from this.

Sanctions by themselves don't prevent government leaders from continuing to take advantage of their citizens. We can't fix everything, but we don't have to make it easy for dictators to continually screw their citizens!

They accepted aid from other countries. They didnt accept it from us because we cant be trusted. We’ve been trying to over throw their govt for twenty years. You don’t understand that our govt is not nice.

That's a simplistic understanding of sanctions use and purpose. There are short-term and long-term objectives. Surely you know someone in the foreign service. Ask them.
