Most evolved society blends capitalism & socialism, honoring both individual freedom & care for the common good. Few countries (including ours: police and fire dept are essentially socialist) all one or the other. The market good at some things, public investment better at others

Socialism regards the collective ownership of the means of production. In terms of the police and fire, we don’t collectively own the means of the production but communally reap the benefits.

Let's look at the alternative, privatized fire departments (again). You'll most likely have to pay before they start working. You'll only have one choice of fire reduction services, or you'll at least choose the first to arrive.

My community has one of the best fire departments in this rural area and they are all volunteer. The more the government takes charge, the less incentive people have to volunteer, work hard, grow businesses, and develop new inventions and products. Let capitalism, let the people.

We chose as a society that certain community based responsibilities were an undue burden. We decided to pay people to do what we didn't want to do...that's capitalism. Most fire depts are volunteer btw.

we pay taxes to basically rent those services from the government right now, if u stop paying taxes u go to prison and have ur rights removed lol
