A lot of misogyny is unconscious. Some of the most vicious misogeny is from women towards other women. One insidious form of it is “selective feminism” - a theoretical support of other women that really only applies to women that we like.

But women are people. Do we support someone just because they are female? I did not agree with Warren's policies or her excuses for why people didn't vote for her. I think a lot of people were hoping that she would be the stronger candidate. She wasn't. Am I a misogynist?

I’m not talking about whether or not we support people politically. That’s in the realm of honorable debate. I’m talking about whether or not we demonize other women, judge them unfairly etc - particularly in ways we would not do to men.

You are totally right @marwilliamson . I remember noticing this -- if anyone remembers the 'Kellyanne sitting on a couch awkwardly' thing...https://twitter.com/firasd/status/860983347496984576 …

The ‘Kellyanne couch’ fake controversy really shows how many liberal women are happy to bring out the misogynistic shaming when convenient: pic.twitter.com/6C3CSsaMoS

Meghan McCain made this point on The View today (while not recognizing that she did exactly this to you, and continues to do so...) .... I know she' a sore subject for you but I want to acknowledge that a LOT of women are talking about this today (EW did brilliantly on Maddow)

That's what I was going to say. A friend of mine is a feminist and she's all, "we need a woman in the White House". She's upset that Warren dropped out. So I asked her if Haley or Rice ran in 4 years if she'd be so passionate and she said, "No, they're products of the patriarchy"

Women can unfairly judge and demonize women just as they can unfairly judge and demonize men. To suggest that women don’t do this to men is dishonest. Men also engage in similar behavior. Behavior is not exclusive to one sex.

Every body has biases and are treated unfairly it's just easier to see it from your POV, but they exist in other POVs. We should all be better and control our biases, assumptions, judgements, etc and focus on the individual.
