There’s a reason why Bernie keeps mentioning FDR. He realizes that for millions of people today the situation is as dire as what many people were experiencing then. We need a massive infusion of economic opportunity into the life of the average American - and we need it fast.

It is also a spirtual issue to look away from the exploitation that led to the massive accumulation of wealth on the labor of others and consumption of natural resources which belong to the earth not some temporal owner.

It is a pity that so many people who quote scripture and use their choice holy text use it so often in a manner that subverts what’s actually being said. Examples: Eye of the Needle, Turn the Other Cheek, and...too many more to list. I like you still because you’re honest.

And yeah, this is coming from some nerdy law student who has too much time on her hands but is pretty damn good at the political history side of things (professor nearly drunk himself to death mid impeachment), and I’m just one person. But I am one of many who see another FDR.

Ah yes. “taking material things”.... as though people don’t need food, housing, healthcare. There is a spiritual dimension and a Material dimension. Not all of us can feed and house ourselves with meditation alone.
