This is EXACTLY what happened in Viet Nam. “Bringing the troops home” is not enough to fundamentally disrupt the consciousness that produced whatever war just ended & which inevitably produces the next one. The state department is supposed to be working for peace
Yes, it is. But look at the numbers. $760B for Defense, $40B for State. And peacebuilding agencies, diplomatic efforts within State Dept. shriveling. Also, Dept. of Peace includes domestic issues as well. They’re connected.
