But we must also be smart. We do need to stand up to totalitarianism with every ounce of our being but we need to be psychologically astute regarding the nature of the opponent. It is very wily, and the game is not just being played on the level of external traditional politics.

Marianne I deeply respect you but extremes on both sides are using violence. Until the left recognizes the extremist on it's own side and calls out the ugliness and thinking only it is superior we will lose! We need to stop up to our own extremists too!

She's wrong. I've encountered grad students on the far left who advocate for 2nd amendment & violence. They want a violent revolution. Here in town a FSU professor advocated hijacking planes and grenading Richard Spencer's house.
