I totally understand not showing up for the speech; I totally understand walking out on the speech; I totally understand ripping up the speech. I have those feelings too. But none of those things will help us win in 2020. All of them will turn off voters we need if we’re to win.

You miss my point. I’m a human being and I do feel outrage at the lies, the lawlessness, the authoritarian tendencies. But emotional discipline means you don’t always act on every emotion. You make a higher choice in how to express yourself. That’s not a ruse; it’s maturity

People still with Trump ain’t voting Democrat. But 40% of the country doesn’t vote, that’s where you focus your attention. Young people, progressive independents, working-class voters disillusioned by these two parties. This is why Bernie is the most electable.

If someone bases whether they vote based on if someone tears up a speech or not, there a much more serious issue going on with them. The reality is they don't want to vote and are just looking for an excuse, no matter how ridiculous.
