“If the USDA’s latest proposal is formally adopted, it would lower some requirements on the volume and variety of fruits and vegetables offered to students.” Nothing a more egregious example of putting corporate profits before people’s well-being. A country that can afford a $738 billion defense budget but will not ensure its school children a more healthy diet is a country whose moral values are spiraling down and whose future health care costs will be spiraling up.

Take a stand for higher nutritional standards for America’s school lunches. Otherwise the standards are being lowered, and the health and productivity of our children will suffer. Email feedback@usda.gov.

Our Sect’y of Agriculture is Sonny Perdue; the USDA calls the shots re school lunches. If you think it seriously wrong that the Secretary of Agriculture would be arguing for FEWER fruits and vegetables, you’re absolutely right. The Sec of Ag is basically an agribusiness lobbyist.

You’re going to say that to an eight-year-old?

I didn't like the food that was being FORCED onto my child. Our district gave us no choice, and would not allow us as parents to provide a lunch. We were FORCED to pay. As a result of this and other issues within the education system, we homeschool now.

So to answer your question, Yes I would.....Unless their district FORCES them to eat that garbage, and at that point I would suggest that the parents find some alternative, be it home school or even a charter school.
