“If the USDA’s latest proposal is formally adopted, it would lower some requirements on the volume and variety of fruits and vegetables offered to students.” Nothing a more egregious example of putting corporate profits before people’s well-being. A country that can afford a $738 billion defense budget but will not ensure its school children a more healthy diet is a country whose moral values are spiraling down and whose future health care costs will be spiraling up.

Take a stand for higher nutritional standards for America’s school lunches. Otherwise the standards are being lowered, and the health and productivity of our children will suffer. Email feedback@usda.gov.

Our Sect’y of Agriculture is Sonny Perdue; the USDA calls the shots re school lunches. If you think it seriously wrong that the Secretary of Agriculture would be arguing for FEWER fruits and vegetables, you’re absolutely right. The Sec of Ag is basically an agribusiness lobbyist.

Let's force parents to use car seats for their children...let's force people to wear seatbelts...Let's recall unsafe products. Remember how our gov't set standards for the health & safety of the public?! How twisted that people are arguing AGAINST healthier food for children!

Can we still have a Dept of Children and Youth? Their health already suffers. They need more than an email. They need an advocate. Happy to serve. And will email too.

The link between poor nutrition and emotional and mental illness is too strong to ignore. As we go forward, the wealthy and the poeople in power seem to be hell bent on creating a society where strength, grit and happiness becomes exclusive to themselves.

Exactly, what is their expertise? Why do we not have proper experts in place in these departments? Nutritional guidelines are important, proper nutritional guidelines.

This is the only balanced meal many of these kids get. That is definitely the parent's fault but that's no excuse to not properly feed our children at school when you receive money to do so.
