The Constitution says Congressional approval is necessary to declare war. But since 9/11 Congress has passed and regularly reauthorizes the National Defense Authorization Act, which gives the president broad authority to do whatever he thinks is necessary to “fight terrorism.”
The NDAA is why there’s no limit whatsoever to Trump’s ability to take military action against Iran. A sweeter give away to the military-industrial-complex could not exist. A sure sign of who and what runs American foreign policy.
Declaring war is so passé. Not only was our 4th amendment sacrificed after 9/11, the invasion of sovereign countries is the new thing because of an ideology called “terrorism”.

So true. The Patriot Act and Homeland Security act both compromised the 4th amendment. So wrong.
And when our returning troops describe the disposition and awareness of the local middle easterners, the magnitude of the tragedy comes into perspective. The #radical combatants are by no means the majority. And many #combatants are paid mercenaries with no other means for income
