I want the same gun safety legislation every progressive Dem wants, but it’s still an area where we’re talking about symptoms and need to talk about cause. As a society, we will continue to have a problem with violence until we look in the mirror and face how violent we are.
Our environmental policies violent toward the earth. Our foreign policies violent toward Yemen etc. Our economic policies violent toward the poor. Our criminal justice system in many ways as violent as the violent offenders it seeks to punish. And our hearts are too often violent

Indeed. And not just violence. I would respectfully add to the list of causes our tendency to vilify each other in groups when a few people of a particular group act badly. Can we move beyond our culture of blame and shame to reach an understanding of everyone’s flawed humanness?

I would argue that career politicians are manipulating a process for political gain. D’s and R’s. It isn’t about America or the Constitution, it’s about keeping power and obtaining more power.
That is precisely why the government should not be taking people's guns. We should be punishing criminals. We should be teaching morals.
We need to look at how many of these crimes are committed by individuals taking Psych Rx
The cause is others are violent and the government is corrupt. Not too hard to figure out.
