My experience of the American people is that in our personal lives we don’t like to feel we’re being played. But collectively we need the same savvy, the same psychological sophistication. An entire political/corporate system is having its way with us; only the people can fix it.

It's called corruption and it could infect any ism humans could invent. Capitalism, socialism. ..they're the caboose on the train. If people governed their own inclinations to poison the collective well for profit no matter who gets hurt then we wouldn't need any regulations .

That is not at all how economics or ideology works. Much more like engines/fuel. and corruption is just as common as the simple blindness to your own inherited and corrupt ideology that you cannot even see it murdering
