Immoral and unjust to base educational funding on property taxes, leaving financially advantaged children with good chance of high quality public education and financially disadvantaged children with less high quality one. This needs to change.https://www.marianne2020.com/issues/plan-for-a-u-s-department-of-children-and-youth …

Believe it or not...the highest quality A rated public schools are failing kids. Now parents are having to privately remediate. This is a story that is not often told but it happens. A LOT. People only focus on low income public school failures. It happens in affluent areas too.

This times a million. Live in top district in the state, but no one accounts that our test scores reflect all the hours and millions parents investing after school. The gap grows

No to this passive form of oppression. Yes to all schools being palaces of learning, culture and the arts.

I think I agree. We should have more charter schools. Tie the money TO THE STUDENT and then parents can chose where they want their kids to go. Same amount of money per student, perfectly equal amounts, parents can send their kids where they want.

In part, I agree. But creating a whole new federal agency is the LAST thing we need. What's needed is school vouchers equivalent to the cost of sending a child to school and introducing healthy competition among districts. Bad schools will have to improve or go broke.

To close the disparity gap, property taxes should be lowered on the suburban residents, and raised on the inner city residents. Problem solved.

Immoral, unjust and , in my mind unconstitutional to impose the judgement of the federal government on families, schools, and teachers. Property taxes can bed raised, other taxes can be added to support schools. If one community places a higher emphasis on education, so be it.
