While I agree with you 100%, polls are supposed to be a small group of people who they expect to represent the country. While I agree, polls should not be included in debate requirements, there needs to be a way to cut down this huge group of people.
What should cut down the number of candidates is the primaries! The decision should be in the hands of the voters alone.

That’s the issue, there is no good way to cut down candidates until primary season. But that’s not good. Donors aren’t very reliable because many people either can’t donate or just donate because they like you but you may not be your #1 choice.
