They are the ones who have enough of a following to be there though, anyone not there needs to drop out.
The polls are not the only - or even the best - indication of size of following. If they don’t poll your supporters, how would they know? The polling process is deeply flawed.

While I agree with you 100%, polls are supposed to be a small group of people who they expect to represent the country. While I agree, polls should not be included in debate requirements, there needs to be a way to cut down this huge group of people.

What should cut down the number of candidates is the primaries! The decision should be in the hands of the voters alone.

I have never been called or contacted by the polling process. I find that to be questionable and potentially corrupt. As a result, I do not trust polls to relay the truth of the people.
