“Soul force” is a concept first put forth by Gandhi. He saw it as a political concept, the idea that love could heal political as well as personal relationships. There is a lot of soul force in the world; where it’s lacking is in our politics and that’s where we most need it now.

Love this. Because the War Department became the Dept of “Defense” and we all know we’re on the offense way more than the other way around. Making
#peace a core part of US govt function is a truly innovative idea. -
Mother Teresa said; “I was once asked why I don't participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I'll be there.” Mother Teresa understood the power of peace.

That's the myth we've been fed by conventional politicians: That we are safer when a war is happening. That wars ending is a bad thing. The U.S. Department of Peace would make us safer by actively engaging in peacebuilding internationally. It's an idea long overdue.

“I believe our country’s way of dealing with security issues is increasingly obsolete. We must have the finest military force in the world— However, we can no longer rely on brute force alone to rid ourselves of international enemies.” Marianne Williamson Next Level Politics
