Absolutely I have. But capitalism must have a conscience & that’s the conversation conscious people are having today - even some prominent capitalist leaders. This course correction is long overdue & in some quarters it’s already begun. But we can’t let up on insisting it’s time.
Many have and many have not. We can only begin from where we are.
I love how you set your views on a firm basis of healthy moral values. “Do unto others” as a spiritual law connects us to a golden thread sewn into the fabric of life to make & keep us happy. Trump’s a reckless & destructive buffoon with no values or self discipline—bad for US.
It isn't capitalism, per se, that is the problem. It's unfettered, unintelligent application of capitalist policies that only serve the already rich&powerful. Govt should maintain balance between its duties stated in the Preamble and free enterprise capitalism. We have a script!
Many attempt to have a simplistic view that to criticize abuses of a system means you want to destroy the system. No. Democracy and free market cap. work best hand in hand. @marwilliamson has this exactly right. We chose the best system, now let's get the right people to drive!!
Yes, the question is why not? Why not approach the question with vigor & realism, we don't say the grease to the wheel is a sham. We say by following the money, there are dark forces using the shield of capital to keep outcomes in the realm of shrouded secrecy.
Well put. @EricRWeinstein and @AndrewYang both are calling for an evolution into the next step of capitalism. We need more US Political leaders speaking like this rather than throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Your "next step of capitalism" sounds exactly like most people's definition of socialism.
Capitalism can't have a conscience, but people do. Capitalists' class interests include directing dissenters away from revolution and towards reform that reproduces class inequality. A people's revolution in our own class interests can replace capitalism.
