Years ago I attended a service w/ a Catholic priest who had Catholics apologize to non-Catholics for historical wrongs committed by the Church. I found it very moving & have been proud to do something similar regarding blacks & Native Americans in America. Nothing silly about it.

We are applying today’s sensitivities to events that happened centuries ago commited by people we can’t hope to understand. Narcissism doesn’t begin to describe it. It’s deeply unhealthy and dishonest.

I'm so conflicted - my mother's side was Protestant, and my father's side was Roman Catholic. Do I apologize to myself? My scars run really, really historically deep.

Ok well if it was about responsibility it wouldn't of happend. Those scars likely come from the poverty and this guilt play that breeds resentment.

The government officially apologized about ten years ago. So what’s the problem?
