I agree with him. I think we will need a combination of a federal jobs guarantee - probably through something like a Green New Deal - and UBI. A tsunami of automation is coming; if we do not prepare for it it could be economically catastrophic.
1) America is having an identity crisis, having become untethered to the remembrance of who we are and what our purpose is. We must become purpose driven and mission driven again, in order to navigate this critical moment.

Who we were? Well, originally, property owning, rich white male supremacy was written into the constitution. It was buttressed by white male preachers in the south discarding the gospel of Jesus and highlighting the way of empires instead. Both are still here today.

‘Who we are’ is more a reference to who we really are in our own true nature, which is loving kindness, goodness, joy... just as the day we were born; the unconditioned self is pure love & in that state there is no hatred.
