I still can’t get over the fact that NBC could have hired nearly 1,000 more actual journalists at a salary of $70,000 each for what it paid Megyn Kelly.

        Let’s do 500 @ $140k instead.

The fully loaded cost for each employee at a salary of $70K (w insurance, 401K, travel, G&A) would probably be close to that anyway. And amortize over five years. But yeah. Still many, many good-paying jobs

It’s so frustrating!!!!! Especially when so many journalists around the country are dealing with the same issues as Cookie Monster:https://twitter.com/sesamestreet/status/1082302059985158146?s=21 …

You are right on that. Adding to that - I hope they learn to not recruit individuals based off “followings” or a particular “pull”. It seems to result in heavily inflated salaries and typically fickle audiences.

I always remember a journalism Prof driving into us that TV news was entertainment, not news. “There’s no difference between a news host and an actor on your favourite sitcom.” He was admittedly a little cynical.

This wasn’t an NBC NEWS hire. This was an entertainment hire for ratings!

The CEO, CFO, COO and every other C-level management position should payback any bonus and forfeit all bonuses for such a bonehead hire. Then take that money and hire more journalists.
