How are they establishment? I hear them discuss ideas I don’t hear anywhere else: not really with Ben Shapiro, but definitely with the Weinsteins and Peterson. And subverting polarization as a tactic to nullify it is the right thing to do imo to avoid blood in the streets.

Did your deep dive on Israel significantly affect the lens through which you view politics and interpret events?

Definitely. Helped me understand the centrality of social identity (first and foremost), trust & cohesion, fragility of order and civility, importance of institutions... many other ways as well.

Fair enough. That series changed my perspective on a lot of things as well and I just listened to it! Made me much more sympathetic to Palestinians. Do you think you will ever do a series that covers 1945-present?

I definitely recommend you read Joe Sacco’s book Footnotes in Gaza about a couple of massacres in Gaza during the Suez Crisis in 1956 or ‘57.

It’s a graphic novel. I had— up to that point— never heard of journalism through comic book.
