This reminds of my thread almost a year ago thinking about the insanity behind the orthodoxy/resistance network conception of national identity:https://twitter.com/RastrapalaMOAB/status/928209158364680192 …

It's not really insane at all and I would be surprised if you're not trolling.
-
lol I was actually quite serious, though quite crude in my open thinking
-
If you and I were friends sharing an apartment, and I brought in a 3rd roommate against your will, would it not be insane for you, a mere 33% of the population, to feel yourself a more legitimate member of the household.
-
lol just realized what you were referring to. I think we have a comical case of misunderstanding. The 40% I'm referring to are those who support open borders/even more immig. for the U.S., per Pew's polling 2016-2017. Our points are actually completely congruent lol

My fault for not remembering whatever it was you were responding to at the time.

lol point taken

Nothing stopped immigrants of the past 200 years from remembering George Washington or adopting an American identity. Why would that pattern change now? The education system does its job.
-
Maybe impossibility is too strong. Nothing may have stopped them in the last 200 years, but something is stopping them now. Any ideas?
