Communism is fueled by ressentiment, capitalism is fueled by envy. In a free market, it's possible to choose happiness & success, and create value in a positive sum game if you aren't envious or resentful. Most fail to practice this, because they're consumed by mimetic rivalry.https://twitter.com/MimeticValue/status/1030350663383797760 …

The advantage capitalism has over communism is that it's possible to find a personal solution that leads to satisfaction so that you can avoid dealing with the envy and resentment of others, but in communism, you're trapped inside the politics of the collective.

Even if I find personal enlightenment to protect my own self from capitalism, I can't expect everyone to. I'll still be trapped in a system that spends billions every years to comprehensively and systematically indoctrinate everyone else into hyper-individualist consumerism.

"Hyper-individualist consumerism " is an oxymoron. Youre not an individual when you all buy the same shit.

Mimetic desire is active, but I think when people say that they are referring to people using consumption as a replacement means for building and sustaining their identity.

That still doesnt adress in-dividualism. Imo group-think and group identity have everything to do with corporate consumerism. As an individual will reject these characteristics of (non)being. Shit have you conversed with people IRL? They all say the same shit, all the time.
