What are the top 5 books that any literate self-erudite must read in 2018? @MimeticValue @normonics @ThouArtThat @PereGrimmer @derek_j_morris thoughts are appreciated.

Care to elaborate?

I don't have any grand arguments against him. I guess it's just that he has the subtlety of a jackhammer. I don't like being preached to in fiction.
-
I see what you mean. He is as subtle as a slap in the face.

I might be the only one here who still hasn't read him yet lol... a lot of these Buddhists/existentialists have the same basic message. You really just have to pick your personal favorites and then go deeper. I picked Shestov, Camus, Zen, and Vajrayana.
-
I'd say you can skip it since you've already delved into more rigorous and deeper books.
-
Yeah, probably...Maybe with the exception of Steppenwolf

I almost just want to revise my list down to just Shestov (and Girard, and Lovecraft). Pretty much all else can be derived from them. Postmodernism is Shestov + Marx. Taleb is Shestov + Math. Admittedly, I don't know McLuhan, Jung, Campbell, PKD or Wyndham Lewis well enough yet.
-
I'd skip mcluhan, campbell primitive mythology series is worth it, the rest I'm not so sure.
-
I respect you man but I don't think he is as relevant anymore. Waste of time. Sorry
-
McLuhan is more relevant now than ever. I'd skip your whole list for McLuhan.
