Working hypothesis:
New Age spirituality, vegan/paleo diet, furries, transgenders, and accelerationism are all aberrant, domesticated retrievals of the shamanism of hunter gatherers due to a retrieval of nomadism resulting from digital media.

"Aberrant" is a word used by Eliade in the book to convey shamanic practices by common folk who haven't been initiated properly. Seems valid here.

It's the ersatz religiosity of an overfed cultural fellaheen. Like Africans in the New World, stripped of their heritage and piecing together various myths, superstitions, and rumors into the various flavors of voodoo or Santeria.

Fellaheen in the Spenglerian sense are post-collapse subsistence peasants, but the humans of Wall-E could be considered fellaheen as well.

What Wall-E missed was that, bellies full and nerves overstimulated, the people would also be crazy beyond repair, heads full of the broken shards of half-remembered stories no longer salvageable into a world-picture. Fellaheen whose basic needs are met are repulsive things.
