Mayor Anne Hidalgo is running for reelection with the idea of making the city a place where everyone can reach their work, home, and any amenity within a 15-minute bike ride.

That Berkeley has declared a climate emergency yet has shut down zero streets to cars, has built zero new bike lanes, had made no new bus priority lanes, has had a major transit-oriented housing project fall through, is making me very skeptical of these pointless declarations.

Vancouver has been working on becoming the greenest city for nearly a decade. As we look beyond 2020, tackling and preparing for climate change comes with a new set of challenges & greater sense of urgency. We’re drafting a bold plan & need everyone to help.

Reluctance to act on climate change comes from a failure of imagination, to imagine a better world. Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about the thing we’re trying to stop, not enough time thinking about the thing we’re trying to create. -

Here’s the question: will clear sidewalks and transit stops so that *all* DNV residents can get to work, school, doctor’s appointments, etc. tomorrow or will they clear only the part of the transportation network that serves people who drive?

This is not a disaster movie. It's just Atlanta, where folks from the car-dependent suburbs were stuck on I-85 this weekend. Folks who had little option but to drive, because Gwinnett didn't join MARTA and get a rail line in the 1970s as originally planned.

    11. Y'all, I'm going to use this thread to gather examples of what I talked about above, namely, conservatives filling the air with false accusations of election rigging in order to obscure their own election fuckery. Send more if you see them.
