excellent interview on the philosophical grounds for left politics to be found in the phenomenology of human activity always a worry that when a wide-ranging series gets to your area of (hobby) expertise, the ep is shallow and calls into question all the other ones. not so here!

I’m only 68 pages into this book, but it’s shaping up to be one of my favorite reads ever. If it holds up, this could be the book I recommend to those who ask which book best defines the way I think about the world.

love ’s concept of “socially available free time”, an inverted analogue to Marx’s “socially necessary labor time” oh shit now they’re talking about Postone. came very close to including Time, Labor, and Social Domination on the above list

An excellent (& v. clear) discussion of an important book. I’m becoming more convinced that Martin’s account of democratic socialism opens a space to articulate a historically new (but not ex nihilo) socialism that merges Hegel & Marx & reconciles between freedom and society.
