No. In good ol days we would’ve:1.Coordinated closely w Israel. 2.Worked w Moscow to restrain Iran. 3.Sent direct warning to Iran. 4.Moved naval forces to eastern Med. 5.Issued WH statement supporting Israel’s right to defend itself and called on all sides to exercise restraint.https://twitter.com/aarondmiller2/status/962678235304783872 …

In the old days, Martin we'd support Israel's right to self-defense; but we'd also be urging restraint and working the issue. see 1993/ 96. In Trumpland there's a verbal green light and no activity - at least that we can see. Sure Israel's on its own but to do as it pleases

I wish. But in those days it was a different Iran; Moscow; as for moving a lot of hardware in response to a drone penetration, probably not. In any event it was all in a galaxy far far away. Meanwhile back on planet earth in Trumpland......😒

The US will only go so far in accommodating Bibi & Liebermans crazy schemes, condemnation of Iran and public support statements for Israel is cost free and keeps AIPAC happy.Redeploying warships or getting caught up in Israel’s attempts at regional hegemony is a bridge to far.

Why are we supposed 2 care about appeasing AIPAC? We sit back &watch Bibi murder Palestinians, steal their land, imprison &torture children. There are no bridges too far we haven’t already crossed. Israelis have a higher standard of living & yet we give them our tax dollars. #BDS

Easy to talk tough. I was on a US Navy ship in the E. Med off Beirut (may-june 1983), I'll quote what my captain said: "I don't know why the f we're here. If we fired into that city we'd have no idea what we'd hit." He was right, as history proved.

well Israel is bombing Syria, again, (also reading rhetoric to occupy Lebanon, again) so it's a perfectly reasonable normal American reaction to move our warships nearby & directly threaten...Iran

"and called on all sides to excercise restraint." Just a stark testimony to a complete lack of understanding by @Martin_Indyk of the situation on the Israeli borders. Iran does not build military bases in Syria to excercise restraint. @realDonaldTrump @IsraeliPM
