Woke up to 300 replies from grumpy devs about GitHub. Guys this is 2018. Microsoft has one of the kindest, most inclusive CEO’s out there. You demanded they changed. They have. You demanded they embrace open source. They have. Now it’s your turn to change and forgive.

Regulations has very little to do with how much they’ve changed.

But it all started only because there happened to be regulators qt that time. I'm not saying that it didn't change, I'm saying this involvement to buy something like GitHub is spooky.

You’re looking at it wrong. The market changed and Windows was no longer the future. Open source and services were. So they had to start a 10 year long shift in strategy.

Windows is no longer the future, I'll agree to that. The aggressive move of including Linux in Microsoft Store and then buying GitHub, my guess is they'll be creating an OS as open source as Android.

There is no Linux kernel code in the 'Windows Subsystem for Linux'. There is trademark infringement in using the name that way, but apparently buying a platinum membership to the Linux Foundation cures all evils.
