So let's get this out of the way early, eh? It is not "an obvious solution" to just "move astronomy into space", either to orbiting telescopes or the "Dark side" of the Moon. Please, please listen when astronomy experts tell you IT'S NOT THAT SIMPLE.

It's not just a case of building a big telescope, packing into a gleaming silver Starship and sending it up into space. Modern telescopes are hugely expensive, take years to design and build, and need enormous amounts of human support and infrastructure to operate.

And put them on the Moon? In time we will, yes, but can't do that *now*. NASA can't. *SpaceX* can't. It's not a solution to the Starlink problem, it's fantasy, pure and simple.

"Just use algorithms to get rid of the tracks!" is not a solution either. Astronomers have said this again and again. Listen to them. *They're* the experts, not "TeslaTim563321" with his 16 Followers and Musk baseballcap.

And saying "Astronomers don't own the sky! Get used to it! It's the price of progress!" is pathetic and childish. Grow up. The sky belongs to everyone. It should be enjoyed by and preserved for everyone, like a National Park or nature reserve. It's not *yours* to build on.

And don't say "You're wanting to stop poor people getting the internet that you enjoy!" because this will not give the world's poor free internet. Cheaper, maybe, but not free. And it's going to be used by rich people too, and the military. So no Kumbaya lectures, ok? It's $$$$

These constellations were always going to happen but should have been introduced thoughtfully and with the minimum of disruption. But there's now a land-grab going on in Earth orbit by businesses that do not care about science. Which is a great shame.

Are astronomers supposed to just sit on their hands, close their domes and forget about the universe for years, for a decade, until a solution is found? Sadly some already seem to have done just that. But others will resist this sky vandalism. Don't be surprised by that.

And don't try to tell them they're wrong, or selfish, or trying to stop progress. Don't try to teach them how to process images, or dodge satellites. They know their jobs and what their equipment can do. Listen to them, learn from them, then work WITH them.

And one last time: I'm a *supporter* of SpaceX. It's done, doing and will do incredible things. I want it to succeed. I think it needs to for many reasons. But Starlink is not the Great Sky Gift its fans are claiming, and it has been handled clumsily - by *both* sides.
