I had to deal a lot with this until I discovered http://privacy.com I create a new debit card for everything, and I just pause it or stop it when I'm done with that service. just lately I couldn't cancel "The Boston Globe" subscription and I just paused the card I used.
Also it's great to keep your credit card data away from hackers when a website database gets leaked online. And this is not an ad and I'm not affiliated with them, I just like their product.
