  2. Ah yes, because if there’s one thing left-liberals are unfamiliar with, it’s the prospect of right-wing governments using the power of the state against them and the policies they support. That’s a totally new thing. Ace analysis here.

  4. Ah, Domenech family ethics. Wonder if will write something about this?

  5. What Senate Republicans think of when they see Mitt Romney, in other words.

  6. Lambasting Romney for having his politics be influenced by his religious faith is a...curious critique from purported conservatives.

Suffolk New Hampshire tracking poll (change from yesterday): Sanders 25 (+1) Buttigieg 19 (+4) Biden 12 (-3) Warren 11 (+1) Petementum is real and Biden/Warren are fading... this could get interesting fast.

  10. Imagine thinking that the important “familial corruptions” in current American political life are primarily an issue affecting families other than the Trump family. And with the pseudo-classical rhetoric to boot. 🤦🏻‍♂️

  12. And this line is interesting but may say more about his milieu than anything: “I’ve seen so many young people tantalized by this official fantasy of, you gotta move to one of the five or six big American cities and live a life of autonomy and personal creation...”

  13. And to be clear, that is a critique of intellectuals, not Texas fraternity men.

  14. Interesting piece, but I think it overstates the importance of intellectuals in politics. I go back to what a smart conservative friend once said: “any version of conservatism that can’t be understood or supported by Texas fratboys has no future.”

  15. John Mellencamp is endorsing Mike Bloomberg. Fascinating.

  16. I support this, both to end Iowa’s first in the nation status and for all the inevitable Breaking Bad references in political journalism.

  17. Given today’s impeachment acquittal vote for Trump in the Senate, I’m re-upping this old piece of mine. The only way out of the current morass is through electoral politics.

Most Americans are satisfied with most things in the country except the character of the president. This is not a time for socialist revolution . It's a time for ethical renewal.

  19. And if the Democrats win anyway, don’t complain about people not taking you seriously or your lack of leverage.
