    A more serious answer. I think what's happening is that elites like Carlson and VD Hanson, having traded in their intellectual bona fides for Trumpism, now have to pander to Rube Nation because they're left with no other constituency. This is the crackup of the right. /1

    Also, while Trump has been inconsistent in how he describes his Wall, the implication is clear that he wants a physical barrier along the entire border. If that wasn’t the case, he would make exceptions for threatened nature preserves and churches.

  19. While I think is probably right in this piece, could the explanation be simpler? Namely, in Trump’s ignorant and simplistic mind, Afghans are terrorists, so that’s the reason the Soviets invaded? Not a good prospect either, but Occam’s Razor...
