What's the reasoning behind a private system that makes profit, could be in any way, cheaper than one run for the public good? Any claim that's made about efficiencies or such, is bullshit, because the exact same efficiencies can by used in either.

One is at cost, one is at cost plus profit... Go on, try to guess which is more?

One operates on a premise that people are by nature selfish & evil - a Calvinist view. In reality, people tend to be generous & considerate. Only when they're trained to believe in the basest instincts do ppl trend that way. (At least since 1/20/1981)

But that doesn't answer the question. What is the theory that says doing something for profit, can possibly be cheaper for doing the same thing without profit?

It's like when people say it's cheaper to rent than it is to buy. It's insane, because the prices you pay to rent, are the price to buy it, plus profit for the person who bought it. Numbers change back and forth, but the basic calculation doesn't.

I'll be back in a couple of hours. One last observation: I think Geo Westinghouse believed his companies existed for the employees' benefit as well as the public's.
