It appears that people are voting early in record numbers for this general election. The results of the elections - for so many offices - are only a start. Many people safe from discrimination were inured to the notion racism was a part of our past. 8/12

Racism/hatred/discrimination in every form have been w/this country fr its birth We never can rest in fight against these evils. We have seen too much hatred the past few years for any reasonable person to believe the roots of it run very deep and are not easily torn out. 9/12

D.C. Stephenson moved to Indiana 100 years ago to recruit for the KKK. His conviction for the murder of Madge Oberholzer, a young woman who worked in the office of the Superintendent Public Instruction, was thought by some to spell an end to the Kluxers. 10/12

If this iteration of the GOP is about keeping control of the country in the hands of a few, we need to understand they are the few. We need to vote and let the few know that their ideas are not accepted in the marketplace of ideas. 11/12

And here I thought this iteration of the GOP was all about free market economic policies. If you are confident of your position, you should welcome exchanges of ideas. Gosh golly, otherwise all it amounts to is cowardice. 12/12

See, this is where we disagree pretty significantly on things. The polices the right wing have put forth have never been about anything else than putting power in the hands of a few. They cover for it by claiming other issues, but those other issues are better dealt with by those

I'm saying we have to fight them w/a party, but also cannot ignore that a structure of another "major" political party has a hell of a lot of pwr. It used to be progressive. It has to be again.

Is there anything that trump has done, that isn't just a more extreme version of what other republicans have been doing for decades? I'm honestly asking this. I don't think there is, but am I missing some 'break' from the general pathway they have all been on?

There was a progressive wing of the GOP until about 1972. Even later, Sen Lugar here pressed for nukes being scaled back. That corporation has built advantages into statutes. Take it over is legit - less resources spent v starting new party.

I look at it about the same as the Whitehouse itself... Yeah, Biden 'could' just sweep it for bugs and decontaminated from virues, but let's face, it, it'd be easier to burn it down and build a new one.

The British did that War of 1812 & also were anti-slavery. (I just shudder to think how much fumigation has to take place in WH.) And Tom, to be clear: I'm pro-choice, pro-BLM, pro-environment and pro-war - we commit troops only after decl of war (hint: won't happen often).
