It is an area of Indpls about 6 miles north of the Circle (that's at ctr of downtown). It was named in 1800s for a broad part of the White River that was shallow & had ripples. A lot of restaurants, bars arts & now TIF-fueled development here

Did you see Santa Fe? Ancestors settled there long ago. Granma's family wr one of founding families of Albuq. She was cute in parade when we were little kids,a typical granny w/ a little hat & old lady shoes. We adored her. She was a Democrat. Grampa was a dyed in wool Republican

We were there one afternoon & I remember it as beautiful. We had hardly any $, & walked around amongst the crowds. The publisher of my novel - nearly 30 years later - was in Santa Fe. Not fun experience.

tell me again the name of your novel? My publisher found my book there but he's really from Tucson. It was at a friends bookstore there. Another friend, an attorney from Taos had taken it there, just for consignment. Serendipitous. He called me. I thought he was a prankster.
