Victoria Spartz successfully purchased the GOP nomination for Indiana’s 5th Congressional District (INCD5) in the June 2 primary. Her positions on issues are abhorrent. One of the worst is her position on guns. 1/14

On her campaign website Ms. Spartz states: “We must preserve our 2nd Amendment freedoms against the tyranny of the government...” There have been no encroachments on “2nd Amendment freedoms.” On the other hand, we see tyranny advance each day. 2/14

“The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” Federalist No. 47 (Madison). 3/14

Ms. Spartz extols trump, who wants to impose autocratic rule on this country. By contrast, even after the mass shooting at Sandy Hook, when little kids were mowed down by an idiot with rapid-fire weaponry, the NRA paid to suppress meaningful gun control. 4/14

Then again, as NPR reported on 9/27/19: “The National Rifle Association acted as a ‘foreign asset’ for Russia in the period leading up to the 2016 election, according to a new investigation unveiled Friday by Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore.” 5/14

As Republican precinct committee person for my precinct in Indy, I’m offended that someone who purchased a nomination to Congress would, in a purported opposition to tyranny, act to advance it. 6/14

A 10/15/15 article in Rolling Stone noted: “Republican presidents from Richard Nixon – who wanted a federal ban on handguns – to Ronald Reagan to George W. Bush all voiced support for gun control. ... 7/14
