I stand with you.
Once I talked gun control, I started getting hit. We should ban assault rifles, more than 5-round clips & we should have background checks. For that I got a wave of hate - if that's what it takes, fine. Others have lost loved ones. Taking up the fight is the least I can do.

What you say is true. People advocating for banning semi-automatic weapons and high count magazines cross the line from originalist BS into sanity. And it does mean life or death — 50,000 gun violence *deaths* in this country every year.

1) Please do not conflate suicide with homicide (10K). Separate issues. Japan has no guns, higher suicides. 2) Most handguns are semi auto, more than 20MM rifles are. They are in common use and protected, cf. Caetano. 3) Rifles of any kind, 300 homicides a yr. Semis, 50-100.

Assault rifles have been heavily regulated since June 26th, 1934. And effectively banned since May 19th, 1986. PS. Rifles of ALL types combined, of which the scary black ones are but a subset, kill half as many annually as do hands and feet.
