After explanation and the example that he's Mexican and White,
"I'm Black too" he said.
"How so ?" I asked
"Look at my shoes DUH" 
I was about 5 yo Mother picked me up fr her sister's/my aunt. Mother: What did you do today? Me: Went to the park Mother: Were any colored ppl there? Me: (thinking everyone has color): Everyone. My parents flipped out.
