@marksmall1973 The Michigan Flint water crisis is a good example. Gov. Snyder was elected for economic prowesws, and that approach caused a disaster. Nor was it profitable.
Probably was profitable to some group members of which don't care about others. Just a guess.

They tried to save money, and failed to add something that prevents the (roadsalted) Flint River water from melting the lead pipes. To this day, they do not ask: Why is the water corrosive?

Skipped a step, though: They switched from Detroit water (Yuch!) to Flint water apparently to save money, then the economical appointees failed to add the stuff.
