Several FB posts recently warn Christians will be persecuted if Democrats gain control of WH & both houses of Congress. In this vein, the current occupant of the Oval Office (a/k/a dt) has promised to “return prayer to school.” 1/20

First, the SCOTUS decision that supposedly banned prayer in public schools was Engel v Vitale, 370 U.S. 421 (1962). Neither that decision, nor any to follow, banned prayer in school. Group-led prayer was ruled unconstitutional. 2/20

Justice Black for the Court: When pwr, prestige & financial support of govt is placed behind partic religious belief, indirect coercive pressure upon religious minorities to conform to the prevailing officially approved religion is plain. 3/20
