Husband in kitchen, I'm in bed, he's talking to roxie and asking her if she's a good girl. One day I'm going to voice record him talking to the dogs. It really is sweet. He loves them.
Or you could place a tiny speaker in a cabinet near where he and the dog usually stand & respond as roxie. I know - kinda devious, but fun.
