WTF were the "framers" thinking when they wrote the impeachment rules? Is it too much to expected that when The House impeaches a president, that the American people can be GUARANTEED a fair trial in the Senate? But nope, McConnell gets to DICTATE the rules and fuck us over? 
They thought the electors would act as a "check" on anyone corrupt, incompetent or bought by foreign interests. Federalist 68. Then they thought Congress would act responsibly. Oh, yeah - and then they said "Just ratify it!"
