I was a federal prosecutor 12 years ago. Contrary to Acosta's dishonest claims, the federal rules of evidence & Crimes Victim Rights Act existed, victim shaming was prohibited, US Attorneys did not meet defense counsels at Marriott Hotels & agree to keep their dealings secret.

My experience: State courts and federal courts are not two different worlds - they are two different universes. And appeal courts are yet another universe.

I agree: I meant attitudes & gen'l legal structure were not as archaic (at least here in Indy) as Acosta makes things sound. Also I never have negotiated a plea agreement in "secret." If offense has victim, State has to notify.
